ETC was founded on a conviction that vocational education in Kerala had a gap: too much theory, too little of what employers actually valued. We set out to close that gap.
Every course we offer, every piece of equipment we buy, every employer relationship we build, it all points to one outcome: a graduate who is employed, confident in their skill, and proud of what they learned here.
We don't measure success by how many students enrol. We measure it by how many graduates are working, because a certificate that doesn't lead to a job isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Twenty-five years later, that mission hasn't changed. It has only gotten sharper, and it's still visible in the same building we started in, on Pattambi Road in Perinthalmanna.
We want technical training to stop being anyone's fallback option. A parent choosing between a degree and a trade course should be able to see both as legitimate paths, because the outcomes prove it.
An ETC certificate should mean the same thing to every employer who sees it: this person can do the job, no training wheels required. That reputation isn't inherited, it gets earned again with every batch.
That means staying closer to the job market than the classroom: adding Electric Vehicle Technology before it was common, updating chip-level repair training as devices changed, and doing the same for whatever comes next.
The courses will keep changing. How we measure ourselves won't: by how many graduates are still working, five and ten years on, not by how many walked through the door.
Electro Technical College founded in Perinthalmanna by visionary educators committed to practical technical training.
Introduced government-affiliated programmes through BSS under the National Development Agency. First batch of formally certified graduates.
Expanded to 15+ courses. Established the placement cell, creating direct employer relationships across Malappuram district.
Launched Smart Course programmes, year-long intensive curricula that have since become flagship offerings.
Achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, recognising ETC's standardised quality management in technical education.
Added Electric Vehicle Technology and expanded chip-level repair training to meet emerging market demand.
25 years on. Over 1,000 graduates. Still growing, and still measuring success by employment, not just enrolment.

Bharat Sevak Samaj promotes technical literacy and skill development across India. Certificates from BSS-affiliated institutions are accepted by government and private employers.
